Keith Fahrforth – Hockey Director, Varsity Head Coach

Keith Fahrforth has played the game of hockey from the youth level through the collegiate level. He grew up in Wheaton and Winfield attending Wheaton North High School. He played his youth hockey for the Glen Ellyn Flames from mites through midgets including several Blackhawk Cup and Central States Championships. While in high school, Keith played for Wheaton West Hockey Club where he had a very successful career including a selection to the 2005 Illinois High School All State Team. Upon graduating high school, Keith attended St. Mary’s University of Minnesota to pursue playing collegiate hockey and golf. He graduated in 2009 with a BA in Biology and a minor in Mathematics. In 2010, Keith earned his masters degree in secondary education and returned to Illinois to begin his teaching and coaching career. Keith has taught at West Chicago Community High School and Wheaton-Warrenville South High School. Coach Keith has been coaching at Wheaton West Since 2009.


Michael Scheffler – Varsity Assistant Coach

Michael Scheffler is a Wheaton North alum who grew up playing youth hockey in Illinois. While in high school he skated for Wheaton West while also playing for the Cyclones and Sabres. After graduation he attended University of Wisconsin Platteville where he continued his hockey career. Michael transferred to Northern Illinois University where he graduated with a major in International Politics and a minor in Southeast Asian studies. While at NIU he was honored with the opportunity to study political anthropology in Thailand. After graduation Michael interned at a U.S. Senators office before working on a State Representatives reelection campaign. He began coaching with the Chicago Bruins bantam gold team in 2012 where he still is coaching. Coach Scheff has been coaching at Wheaton West since 2013.


Micah Hauke – Varsity Assistant Coach

Micah Hauke is a Wheaton resident and who began skating around the age of 5. He began his youth hockey career at the YMCA in Elmhurst and continued on to play for Wheaton West as an assistant captain until 2014. Upon graduation, Micah played for the Chicago Cougars of the USPHL for two years. After aging out of junior, Micah continued his playing career for the Liberty University Flames in the ACHA while studying for his bachelor’s degree in business administration. Micah continued to share his knowledge and enthusiasm for the game with youth players while working with Planet Hockey skills camps. While working with Planet Hockey, Micah was able to train with current and former professional players. Coach Micah hopes to instill his passion and love for the game with Wheaton West players while simultaneously increasing skill development.
